Infographic: What the second screen phenomenon means for businesses

Submitted by on November 12, 2013 – 9:31 amNo Comment

Thanks to the mass take-up of tablets and smartphones, everyday activities such as watching TV have become thoroughly social affairs, with 44% of TV viewers using a second screen at least half the time they’re in front of the box.

This infographic by Wowza Media Systems examines the growing trend, providing food for thought for businesses looking to capitalize on the multi-screen experience. A key stand-out is that 72% of users are more likely to watch a TV show after engaging with its social pages, so it seems good social drives viewer numbers, and not necessarily that existing viewers are liable to subsequently seek out a show’s social presence.
