Infographic: The effect of social media on commerce

Every minute, more than $272,000 is spent online. Over 100,000 tweets are sent, two million search queries are made on Google and upwards of 680,000 pieces of content are created on Facebook. The challenge for brands and retailers is finding a way to make that all join up; to make their tweets and content correlate with all the cash that’s being splashed.

This new infographic from point-of-sale specialists Fedelta outlines exactly that, reminding businesses that over 70% of consumers rely on social media to help guide their purchases, and claiming that just six hours spent on social a week can significantly increase website traffic.

Fedelta predicts that within the next two to three years brands will be generating more than half their online sales through social media, but as we know, it’s not enough to simply be on social media. According to the infographic, customers want rewards, exclusive content, deals and the opportunity to have their voices heard. Read on for more:
