Last December official UK guidance was issued on the subject of social media, free speech and crime, but it remains a murky area oft debated. Lawyers are in the process of discussing the guidance, considering what’s okay online, what’s definitely not, and how to deal with offensive posts. The BBC news report below examines the challenges this presents and highlights some of the most notable prosecutions to date.

This is the area where legislation needs to improve the most. We can pursue people for posting stuff. But we must chase down the real trouble makers. The ones that threaten your personal information, business, life etc. Very careful measures need to be taken and this matter should be handled with surgical accuracy.
