The new technology of social media sustainability communications
Social media and sustainability. It’s one of the fastest growing areas of interest in the world of corporate and brand communications – not least because sustainability professionals recognise a kindred spirit in social media’s inherent values of authenticity and transparency and are excited by its power to create content and compelling stories.
In this update to the 2011 SMI-Wizness Social Media Sustainability Index we look at the new social technologies and platforms sustainability communicators are using to tell those stories.
Whether it’s Greenpeace’s latest campaign using Instagram, the Brooklyn Nets video storytelling through Socialcam or IBM and Annie’s expansive use of Pinterest, new social tools and platforms are giving sustainability a greater social media voice that is reaching far beyond the traditional CSR stakeholder cluster.
