Heineken’s cruel viral gag snags footy lovers

Submitted by Social Media Influence on March 16, 2010 – 11:24 am19 Comments

Heineken, a long-time sponsor of the UEFA Champions League footy tournament, pulled off one of the crueler gags you’ll ever see. On the night of the big match, pitting AC Milan v. Real Madrid, it staged a dull artsy event at a local concert hall. The idea was to drag calcio-loving Milan supporters to the event, sacrificing the big match.

Girlfriends, journalists, the boss… they were all in on the gag, ensuring a filled concert hall. It wasn’t easy, but Heineken scored, and now it has a nice little viral video to add to its trophy case.

The video has taken off in recent days with over 61,000 tuning in.
