Konica Minolta’s email spam

Submitted by matthew yeomans on March 4, 2008 – 12:50 pm3 Comments

Congratulations James Norberto of Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. You win the prize for the most annoying and irrelevant PR spam of the year so far.

Mr. Norbeto is in charge of sending out press releases for Konica Minolta – one that apparently doesn’t include researching whether the recipients (in this case me) actually write about the subject matter.

I’ve never written about Konica Minolta or its field of technology so I was a little surprised to start receiving regular email updates on the "Advanced Version of IC-304 Print Controller, a CREO Color Server, for the bizhub PRO C6500" and other fascinating topics.

That said, I don’t overly object to unsolicited email press releases especially when the PR account director has taken the time to research who I am and why I might be interested in what they are trying to promote.

Alas Konica Minolta doesn’t seem to have bothered to do even a cursory bit of research. What’s more, the PR department now has sent me eight separate press releases in the last 12 hours.

Come on guys, do your research and cut down on the volume!

  • Joe says:

Hey, Matthew, how can you spell the guy’s name two different ways in two consecutive sentences? Perhaps, Konica Minolta can provide you with a spell checker.

    Joe, good catch.

I’ll check the press releases to see if a spell-checker is one of the products being touted :)

  • Hear-hear! I got one yesterday for laptop cases. And I keetp getting them for femtocells, which I thought was a pregnancy testing kit.
